Barcelona could be without Lionel Messi for Wednesday's Clásico against Real Madrid in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final.

The Argentine forward netted a brace in his side's 2-2 draw with Valencia on the weekend, which saw the Blaugrana come back from two goals down to salvage a draw.

Kevin Gameiro struck the opener for the visitors, before Daniel Parejo doubled their lead from the penalty spot.

The 31-year-old however reduced Barca's deficit with just six minutes to the end of the first half of the game.

Barcelona's winning streak in La Liga ended at eight matches and they lead second-placed Atletico Madrid by six points, before their closest challengers visit Real Betis on Sunday.

Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde says an injury to Leo Messi isn't serious.

'(Messi) has a small problem.

"We will have to wait to see what medical staff say". If he's in good shape, he'll play on Wednesday [against Madrid]'. "I cannot guess anything but we imagine that it can't be too bad".

Darren Weir is seen departing the Victorian Racing Club's headquarters during after a show cause hearing in Melbourne. Regarding McLean, significant conditions were also imposed until the RAD Board has heard and determined the charges.

Valverde has not yet used Messi in a first leg game in the Copa del Rey, but Barca lost to Levante and Sevilla without him.

"It was a very unusual first part".

"But we have taken charge of the game from there".

"When we were better we got the 0-1 in a counter-attack and then a second goal was a very severe punishment'".

Marcelino's side's strategy of intense pressing and rapid counter-attacks paid off with their two goals while their organisation and discipline prevented Barca from hitting top gear, even through Sergi Roberto nearly equalised before the interval when his shot hit the post.

"The team had an extraordinary game and played spectacularly well but we were unlucky".

Neither team could find a victor in the remaining 30 minutes of the match, but the draw ensured Barca avoided a first league loss since November and took them to 50 points from 22 games.
