The includes HTC, which has unveiled its new 5G mobile smart hub for both home and business use. It can also replace a Wi-Fi router for home broadband or serve a corporate VPN, with capacity to deliver ultra-low-latency, 60fps and 4K resolution video.

The HTC 5G Hub will go on sale in the next few months through selected retailers, however there's no news on price just yet.

That's right, the financially struggling company believes it can get the mobile world excited for a "first-of-its-kind" HTC 5G Hub.

An example given of what that might allow is to stream VR content from the cloud to a VIVE Focus headset using the HTC 5G Mobile Smart Hub, with no PC or extra cables required.

The busiest bits of Glasgow, Newcastle, Liverpool, Leeds, Hull, Sheffield, Nottingham, Leicester, Coventry and Bristol will also get EE 5G this year, so plenty of people will actually get some use out of the smart hub if they choose to buy one.

The HTC 5G Hub is a plug-and-play device, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC with support for Wi-Fi 6 using Qualcomm 60GHz Wi-Fi chipset, offering improved speed and range compared to the 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi bands. What all of this means is the HTC 5G Hub is ready to take that high-speed 5G signal and pump it out to all of your connected devices. Carriers across the globe will offer the HTC 5G Hub—including Sprint, Telstra, and recently added European carriers: Three UK, Deutsche Telekom (Germany), Sunrise (Switzerland), and Elisa (Finland).

“Sprint is thrilled be the exclusive USA wireless carrier for HTC 5G Hub in the United States, ” said Dr. John Saw, Sprint chief technology officer. The 5G Hub also support wireless connectivity in the form of 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ad WiFi standards and can accept up to 20 simultaneous connections from wireless devices. "This Hub is like a "Swiss Army Knife" with multiple tools that will quickly make it vital and versatile for connected homes and small businesses". And, as it has Android 9 Pie installed, it will even work as an Amazon Echo Show-style device, capable of playing apps and games.
