The sheer brilliance from Maxwell helped Australia win the series 2-0.

The innovative batsman entered the fray at 2-22 then smacked nine sixes and seven fours as his team wrapped up a seven-wicket win in 19.4 overs.

If one of his key personnel had a bad day, the captain would have no one else to turn to.

Local hero Rahul slashed a short and wide ball between cover and point before Dhawan flicked one off pads for another four with the over going for 12 runs.

Krunal Pandya and Yuzvendra Chahal would proceed to bowl the next three overs between them, but Maxwell was seeing the ball like a football and sent it over the fence with regularity.

Up, up and away!

Earlier, skipper Kohli and Dhoni delighted the Chinnaswamy crowd with a 100-run stand.

Maxwell, though, would not be stopped.

And that was exactly what they demonstrated, unleashing a flurry of boundaries and sixes to send the Australian fielders on a leather hunt. Dhoni's 23-ball 40-run innings included three sixes and three fours.

Australia still needed more than 11 per over with seven overs to go, and that's when Maxwell brought out his bag 'o tricks.

Dhawan was rested from the first game with KL Rahul getting to open alongside Rohit Sharma but from the way the practice session went, there were no indications on what could be the opening combination for the final game.

There were no such doubts about Rishabh Pant's dismissal, though. India lost Dhawan and Pant in quick succession.

Dhoni's laboured effort in Visakhapatnam may have sparked some questions over his place in this Indian T20 side, but he demonstrated here that he could still make an impact in the shortest format. D'Arcy Short played a good second fiddle, and got out for 40 runs.

Kohli had observed at the toss that this pitch looked like the "Bangalore wicket of old", full of runs. If Rahul's first six wasn't quite convincing - a top-edged maximum - he oozed quality the next ball, nonchalantly lifting a wide ball over the extra-cover boundary. He remained unbeaten on 72 (38b). With them tasting blood before the slog overs, both of them made optimum use of the last five overs as India collected 77 runs between overs 15-20.

During the second T20I of the ongoing Australia's tour of India at Bengaluru, India captain Virat Kohli and wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni joined hands to propel India to 190-4 in their allotted quota of 20 overs.

"It's a tough place to come ... they're different conditions to back home".

Shikhar Dhawan who performed exceptionally well in Australia and won the man of the series award for his match winning knocks got dropped for the two T20Is against Australia in India. India are 0-1 down and would be desperate to ensure that a home series does not slip out of their grip.
