The Hornets had made an official complaint to the Premier League a year ago over what they regarded as "tapping up" by Everton, with the league employing a law firm to interview all the parties involved in the hope of reaching a resolution.

Watford made an official complaint to the Premier League over Everton's pursuit of Silva, but an inquiry into both clubs will be avoided, with a compensation package - reportedly in the region of £4million - now agreed.

Everton manager Marco Silva find himself in a bit of a hole right now, with his side losing their last three consecutive matches.

Watford were left furious by Everton's attempts to bring in Silva in November 2017 following the sacking of Ronald Koeman.

Blue Jackets deal for Senators F Matt Duchene
Duchene was one of seven Senators players who were recorded in October criticizing the team's poor play and assistant coach Marty Raymond.

"Both Everton and Watford are keen to move on from this matter".

Upon Watford's subsequent complaint to the Premier League in May previous year, the club said: "The club is convinced the appointment of Silva was the right one and had it not been for the unwarranted approach by a Premier League rival for his services we would have continued to prosper under his leadership". Potential sanctions could have included a huge fine or potentially a points deduction.

Everton return to action on Tuesday at Cardiff and the irony of this settlement is the fact that Silva remains under pressure following a desperate run of results.

The season has become a write off for Everton following the FA Cup exit at Championship club Millwall and Silva needs to show Moshiri in the coming weeks that he has the ability to turn things around.
