Inter replace Icardi with Handanovic as captain

Mauro Icardi is no longer the captain of Inter.

That transfer did not happen as Inter rejected Arsenal's loan approach, but Nara's suggestion "personal issues" were behind the forward's desire to leave prompted the club to name Samir Handanovic as their new club captain.

Capello has questioned how Icardi can carry on at Inter while his agent and wife Wanda Nara continues to snipe in public at management and also his teammates.

Icardi, valued at 100 million euros ($113 million), has been linked with a move away from Italy to Spanish giants Real Madrid or Chelsea in England.

The Argentina worldwide trained with the squad on Wednesday but was a notable absentee when Inter named the 19-man party who would travel to Austria for the first leg of their last-32 tie.

"There will be time to clear things up in the coming days, but as far as I am concerned, this is all I have to say on Mauro". The 25-year-old striker's current deal runs until 2021. Chelsea will never get a better chance to sign him.

Icardi has become crucial to the Nerazzurri since joining from Sampdoria in 2013, scoring 122 goals in 210 outings while lifting the Capocanniere award for Serie A's most prolific scorer on two occasions.
