Last Saturday, just hours before the polls were to open, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced a one-week postponement, triggering widespread anger. We must believe and encourage INEC to fulfil and honour this responsibility it owes to our country.

Lauding the domestic monitors and observers for their contributions to Nigeria's democracy, the President also thanked the worldwide groups for their friendship and concern for the nation.

Speaking on security, peace and safety during the polls, the President assured both local and global observers that there would be adequate security.
