Rory McIlroy has confirmed that he will not take part in this year's Irish Open at Lahinch after deciding to cut back on his schedule on the European Tour.

The major is returning to Northern Ireland for the first time since the 1951 staging of the event at Portrush.

The four-time Major victor says he'll skip the event in order to focus on his preparations for the Open Championship in Portrush two weeks later.

That the world number eight will not play the tournament is not completely unexpected.

He is not coming out openly which means that there are stains in their folds. "We'll be deciding soon how to remove the photo". India and Pakistan have not played any bilateral series since 2008, and have only faced off in ICC multilateral tournaments.

'If there is ever a year when I feel I can miss this Irish Open, it's this year, ' McIlroy, who won the Open in 2014, told BBC. He said previous year he would play either the Irish Open or Scottish Open.

McIlroy, who has four major wins to his name, is in the field at the WGC-Mexico Championship that begins later on Thursday. That requires him to play at least four events on the tour.

McGinley was critical of McIlroy's suggestion that he might only play two regular European Tour events this season, a decision which would mean losing his membership and the right to be Ryder Cup captain in the future.
