Micron says its card can reach read speeds of 100Mbps and write speeds of 95Mbps. To put things much more simply, though, either option can comfortably store and play your Switch games and you'll be gaining an incredible 1,000 GB of storage in the process.

Micron's claim to the world's first 1TB microSD card was short-lived, however, with Western Digital announcing its own 1TB UHS-I microSD flash memory card, the 1TB SanDisk Extreme UHS-I microSDXC, which the company claims is the world's fastest 1TB microSD card. Prior to that, the prices of microSD cards with different capacities had dropped, signaling the arrival of new storage capacities. For comparison, SanDisk's 400GB microSD will run you $149.99 CAD on Amazon right now. SanDisk says this is almost twice as fast as standard UHS-I microSD cards in the market. The SanDisk card is said to be able to achieve up to 160MB/s read speed, as opposed to Micron's 100MB/s, although the Micron card just leads the race on max write performance. According to Micron, this card has been designed specifically for high-performance mobile applications, and is certified for the A2 App Performance Class specification. However, that slower speed will likely come with a lower price tag as well. Many phones top out at 512GB when it comes to microSD support.

The c200 1TB microSD cards will be available in the second quarter, Micron said. Meanwhile the Sandisk card will cost a whopping $450 (roughly Rs 31,300).

Micron's 1TB offering will launch in Q2 with pricing TBA. SanDisk has committed to launching its card in April, and it's already available for pre-order from SanDisk's web site.
