Schiff: 'Absolutely' Would Sue Trump Admin Over Mueller Report

"And in the end, I think the [Justice] Department understands they're going to have to make this public", Schiff said in an appearance on ABC's This Week. "I think [Attorney General William] Barr will ultimately understand that as well", Schiff explained.

As part of his guilty plea, Manafort admitted to conspiring against the U.S.by laundering money, cheating the US out of taxes, failing to file foreign bank account reports, violating the Foreign Agents Registration Act, and lying to the Justice Department.

Barr, who was confirmed to office February 14, has said he plans to provide as much transparency as possible, though he has stopped short of committing to a full release of the document.

Congress and the people of America must press for maximum disclosure of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's findings.

The Senate confirmed Barr as attorney general on February 14.

Waiting for the Mueller report?

"We are going to get to the bottom of this".

Other Democrats echoed Schiff's pledge to take action.

On Sunday, Schiff suggested that anything short of Mueller's full report will not be enough to satisfy Democrats. The investigation is widely speculated to be drawing to a close, with Mueller's final report expected in a matter of days or weeks.

Prosecutors originally filed a sealed sentencing memo on Friday, but the document was made public on Saturday with certain information still redacted, or blacked out. His remarks stoked speculation that he might be inclined to keep secret all or part of the Mueller report, depending on its findings.

Manafort's FARA violations, the filing argues, "exemplif [y] Manafort's boldness in choosing to disobey the law, as he committed his FARA violations after being warned by the Department of Justice about the law's structures and after resigning a Presidential appointment in connection with the Department of Justice review". Earlier this month, he announced that the House is launching its own investigation into the election.

He said Mueller's report should also detail how the Hillary Clinton campaign and the DNC funded the infamous Trump dossier and how the dossier allegedly was used by anti-Trump FBI officials.

"You're talking about public pressure", said Stephanopoulos.

"The overall intent of the regulations - it's said time and time again - is public confidence in the administration of justice".

Schiff, a Democrat who chairs the House of Representatives Intelligence Committee, said Democrats will also sue the government and call on Mueller to testify to Congress if necessary.

Like other Americans close to the president charged in the Mueller probe, Manafort hasn't been accused of involvement in Russian election interference.
