Six Nations - England 32-20 Ireland: Henry Slade reacts dominant win

"The intensity at which we played pleased me most", Jones said.

"When I saw the team in midweek, I thought "wow, this team will come and play".

But New Zealand, and England coach Eddie Jones again in the buildup, warned Ireland that it was different being the hunted rather than the hunter.

England bristled with intent when in possession and benefited from the return of Saracens forwards Mako and Billy Vunipola and Leicester centre Manu Tuilagi, the bulldozing trio starting together for the first time due to injury. "That is how it's going to be (at the World Cup) and that's why England are, literally, such a big team and I thought they played really well tonight". "We gave up a couple of soft tries and, against a team of England's quality, you're always going to be struggling".

"Some games are immensely physical, some are more tactical and we went in there and probably shaded them a little bit in that area".

The best example of England's successful deployment of the kick in attack came in the second-half try that pushed them out of Ireland's reach when Henry Slade sprinted on to May's chip and touched down. They wouldn't even know they were on the field.

On their blistering start, he added: "It's part of how we prepare, to start fast we wanted to fly into them and ride through the rough patches and I think we executed that today". He added, "We're nowhere near our best". "I am not saying it was a plan [by England] but it put him out of the game".

Some have wondered if Ireland, who have never before got past the World Cup quarterfinals, had peaked too soon, while others have questioned if they can cope with the pressure of the huge expectation they find themselves under.

Bettor Places $1.5 Million Wager on Rams to Win Super Bowl
Another bettor went big on the Rams entering Super Bowl LIII , placing a $300,000 moneyline wager on Los Angeles with South Point. Louis and not a threat to overtake the Seahawks in the NFC West, the Rams gave Seattle trouble.

Speaking after the thrilling encounter, Slade said: "It's a great feeling to get a win, Ireland are a top side".

Not much, most would say, but the way Jones' side dismantled Ireland - World Rugby's team of the year in 2018 - offers some encouragement.

"We'll start worrying about where we are standing in the World Cup when we're 10 days out from the first game".

Joe Schmidt's side got off to the worst possible start after England's eight-year wait for a try in Ireland ended after just 95 seconds.

'England collectively delivered a simmering physical intensity. It's a challenge to all our confidence'.

Schmidt admitted Ireland were outmuscled in the same way as during their last home defeat, the 21-9 loss to New Zealand in November 2016.

Playing a side who had turned 18 of their past 19 halftime test leads into victory, it was exactly the kind of first 40 minutes England needed and it only got better in the second period. They got a second try in behind us but we need to keep a cool head.
