Terabytes per smartphone: Samsung has started production of new memory modules

To help address the situation, Samsung announced that it has created the world's first 1TB embedded flash storage (eUFS) 2.1 module for smartphones and other mobile devices.

With 16-stacked layers of V-NAND and a new proprietary controller, the UFS will allow users to store up to 260 4K 10-minute long videos. The eUFS or the embedded Universal Flash Storage chips are way faster than the regular storage chips that the company now produces. It will give the company's mobile devices PC-like storage without the need for large-capacity micoSD cards.

Yes, that's right: one whole TB of internal storage on your smartphone. It also has a sequential write speed of 260MB/s. But now it has pushed the storage benchmark in the smartphone space to terabytes, speed, and capacity comparable to advanced notebooks.

It is important to remember here that right now Samsung's Galaxy Note 9 and Apple's iPhone XS Max at top spec are the only flagship phones that offer even half that storage capacity internally that this new drive offers.

How to finish Fortnite's 'sundial, oversized coffee, and dog head' dance challenge
Anyway, we hope you found this guide stimulating - if not, perhaps we should've popped a couple more scoops of quality content in. The final of these three locations you need to dance on in Fortnite for the week 9 challenges is the Giant Metal Dog Head .

This means that we can copy 5GB of Full HD video from the NVMe SSD in 5 seconds - 10 times faster than a typical microSD card.

Although Samsung makes no reference itself as to whether this technology will be included in the next Galaxy S10 series, tech reporters and bloggers are treating it as a given.

The random read speed has been increased by 38 percent to 58,000 IOPS compared to the 512GB eUFS. In line with its upper hand in the department, Samsung says it has already started mass manufacturing 1 TB storage chips for mobile devices.

That might see the likes of Apple offering 1TB models of the next-gen iPhone - although the most recent iPhone models used Toshiba hardware according to an iFixit teardown.
