This brings the internet into legal trouble again.

The challenging arguments in court against FCC are highly technical. Several consumer groups, technology companies and Democratic-led states challenged the FCC's decision. The debate centers on a change the FCC made in late-2017 that ended protections that ensured all Internet traffic would be treated equally.

The court challenge statement emphasized the efforts for making the rules to prevent the Internet from the intervention of service providers. The court challenge further stated that the aspirations for FCC in deregulation destroyed the importance of laws, court decisions, facts, and reasonable decisions.

A group of 22 state attorneys general and the District of Columbia have asked the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia to reinstate the Obama-era internet rules and to block the FCC's effort to pre-empt states from imposing their own rules guaranteeing an open internet. However, a majority of them were found to be false.

For its part, the FCC has said that it acted legally and can decide how rules are set on Internet access.

"The FCC's net neutrality repeal was both misguided as a matter of policy and unsound as a matter of law", Sarah Morris, the deputy director of New America's Open Technology Institute, told reporters Wednesday. The legal counsel of public radio system, NPR, also filed comments with the FCC on behalf of NPR in opposition of the FCC's repeal decision.

"The U.S. Supreme Court has already affirmed the FCC's authority to classify broadband as a Title I information service, and we have every reason to believe that the judiciary will uphold the FCC's decision to return to that regulatory framework under which the internet flourished prior to 2015 and is continuing to thrive today", Berry said.

President Trump talks with FCC Chairman Ajit Pai at the White House in November. However, the political balance of FCC changed with Donald Trump's ascension to the presidency. He further stated that the Internet was never flawed.

Net neutrality has many potentially serious implications.

Kevin Russell, a lawyer for the challengers, said hypothetically an internet provider could now block the Daily Caller website or graphic animal abuse videos as long as they disclosed it. Pai also wrote that the Federal Trade Commission could ensure consistent safeguarding of Americans throughout the Internet economy.

Big Internet providers, including AT&T, Verizon and Comcast, support the FCC's decision, saying "they should be able to control the pipes they built and own", the Associated Press reports.
