The Wildcats picked up their sixth foul of the second half with 15:03 left in regulation (giving them 18 for the game), and three of their big men had 11 of the fouls.

Kansas State returns home to host Oklahoma State on Saturday. After a Culver free throw made it a one-point game, Brown hit a three-pointer and added another basket after a jump shot from West, extending the Wildcats' lead back to four points. Kansas State was led by Brown with 10 points before halftime while Wade had eight. The two teams would go on a cold streak for a few minutes as Kansas State almost went four minutes without scoring while West Virginia went over six minutes without making a field goal. The Wildcats have now held 14 opponents to 60 points or less, including 5 in Big 12 play.

Lamont West led West Virginia with 16 points. The Mountaineers then responded with a 7-0 run to take a 10-7 lead over the Wildcats at the 14:04 mark.

After a 3-pointer by senior Kamau Stokes closed the deficit to 15-14, the Mountaineers rattled off 5 in a row to push the lead back to 20-14 with 9:58 before halftime.

Even though foul trouble led the Wildcats to play 13 players, they got all but two points from their starters. Derek Culver had 11 points and 13 rebounds while Brandon Knapper had 10 points. Brown gave the Wildcats a 30-28 lead with a long jumper right before the buzzer. Kansas State shot just 39.3 percent and West Virginia connected on just 37.5 percent of its shots.

The Mountaineers shot 35 percent from the field, 22 percent from beyond the arc and 67 percent from the free throw line.

The play was sloppy, as most games in which WVU participates is, with 18 field goals and 20 turnovers combined by the two teams in the first half.

Grits defeat call for public inquiry into SNC-Lavalin
Liberal MP Jody Wilson-Raybould arrives to a caucus meeting on Parliament Hill in Ottawa on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says it's important there be an "airing" of what happened in the SNC-Lavalin affair.

At 11:55 in the second half, the Mountaineers tied the game up at 42-42 after the Wildcats had the lead for most of the half.

"He has to learn to score through contact", Huggins said, referring to the ways teams are roughing him up, not anxious about outside shooting from the Mountaineers.

A pair of free throws by Sneed pushed the run to 14-0 before the Mountaineers finally scored to close the deficit to 56-44 with 6:34 to play.

Wade then hit a jumper to help Kansas State regain the lead by two points.

The lead stayed in double figures the rest of the way, as K-State swept the series for the first time since 2013.

It took a late basket by Barry Brown, who had scored 29 against WVU in the first meeting of the teams, to allow the Wildcats to take a 30-28 lead into the locker room ... and if WVU had been able to make any shots through the final 10 minutes of the first half they would have had a sizable lead. Sneed scored 16 of his 19 points after halftime on flawless 5-of-5 shooting, including 4-of-4 from 3-point range. "The 6'8" senior is averaging 13.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game.

The Wildcats answered the call yet again with a dunk from Mawien and Sneed's third three-pointer of the game which made it 47-42 in favor of Kansas State with 10:33 left to play.
