Wells Fargo customers continued to complain Friday about a glitch that is preventing them from banking online

"We are aware of an issue regarding the processing of direct deposit into Wells Fargo accounts".

Customers of Wells Fargo, the 13th largest bank in the world, have been unable to gain access to online banking, ATMs, and in some cases credit cards, showing the merit of digital assets like Bitcoin.

The company announced that nearly all services were restored as of Thursday evening and apologized for the inconvenience after outages that affected ATM, mobile and online banking platforms.

Some customers were concerned with their direct deposits not appearing in their accounts but the company said they were processed and should be visible Friday. "The transactions were processed normally, and customers and team members can use their accounts with confidence". Customers spoke up on social media Friday, saying mobile banking either was unavailable or their paychecks had yet to show up. "We are experiencing higher than normal volumes so there still may be delays in online banking and contact center response times." .

The problem escalted on Thursday after a power issue at a data center in Minnesota resulted in mobile app and website outages for customers, in addition to ATM and credit card troubles.

Because of the restoration process, the bank says some transactions, balances and payroll deposits were not visible in online banking or ATMs Thursday and early Friday. "This issue has now been corrected", the bank said in a separate statement. Smoke caused by the maintenance work triggered an automatic power shutdown, and most of the bank's applications were re-routed to back-up data centers.

Wells apologized multiple times during the outage and said any fees that customers incur because of the outage would be reversed.

Other customers said they weren't at all impacted by the issues. The bank has been plagued with scandals over its sales practices, attaching insurance contracts to auto loans that did not need it, and putting homes into foreclosure where it shouldn't have happened.
