'Yesterday' Trailer Takes Place In A World No One Knows The Beatles

Boyle directed the film, from a screenplay by Curtis - the writer's first cinematic screenplay since 2014's Trash, and his first rom-com since About Time. The official synopsis reads: "Yesterday, everyone knew The Beatles". Today, only Jack remembers their songs. That might sound bad for music lovers, but it's not a nightmare when he becomes the biggest star in the world singing their songs. After a freak bus accident during a mysterious global blackout, Jack wakes up to discover that The Beatles have never existed. Himesh Patel (from "EastEnders" and "Damned") stars in Yesterday, along with Lily James, Kate McKinnon, Ed Sheeran, Ana de Armas, Joel Fry, and Camille Chen. As the only person alive who knows about the careers of Paul, John, George, and Ringo, the movie explores what an artist can do with a library of some of the most beloved songs the world has (n) ever heard.

Performing songs by the greatest band in history to a world that has never heard them, and with a little help from his steel-hearted American agent, Debra (Emmy victor Kate McKinnon), Jack's fame explodes. This looks as amusing and enjoyable as I hoped, and I can't wait to see it.

Cinderella star Lily James plays Jack's love interest, who gets left behind in the ensuing madness, while real-life couple Sanjeev Bhaskar and Meera Syal play his parents.

Maybe it is because it's reexamining the lyrics of the Beatles in 2019, but there's something about this movie that really excites me. The idea of a Beatles reunion is a myth.

Of course, The Queen's Platinum Jubilee isn't far away in 2022, so perhaps that would be the flawless time for the pair to team up in a Beatles reunion once again.

The film will open in theaters on June 28.
