British Parliament Rejects May’s EU Withdrawal Plan a Third Time

European Union president Donald Tusk on Friday summoned leaders to an extraordinary summit on April 10, after British lawmakers again rejected the draft Brexit withdrawal deal they agreed with Britain.

"I fear we are reaching the limits of this process in this House", May told parliament after the defeat.

"I urge the House not to be cajoled on this third-time lucky strategy, and vote it down today".

Within minutes of the vote, European Council President Donald Tusk said EU leaders would meet on April 10 to discuss Britain's withdrawal. The EU has been preparing for this since December 2017 and is now fully prepared for a "no-deal" scenario at midnight on 12 April. By means of this pledge, she obtained the votes of Boris Johnson and his backer in any leadership battle, Jacob-Rees Mogg. "We need to be setting up a Brexit war cabinet", he said.

To win the vote, May must bring on side dozens of Brexit-supporting lawmakers in her own party and more than 20 Labour Party lawmakers.

British politics has been thrown into chaos with no clear proposals being approved by the majority of the House of Commons. "Sectoral mini-deals are not an option".

"The House has been clear, this deal now has to change", he said. Last week, the European Council gave London time until 12 April to come up with a new solution if the withdrawal deal fails to pass by 29 March.

The EU's chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier said teh United Kingdom had a responsibility to "tell us what they want for the future relationship of their country with the EU".

Lewis said the option of a customs union would be hard to pursue because it flew in the face of the Conservatives' pledges before the 2017 national election and did not respect the outcome of the 2016 Brexit referendum.

She was forced to strike a deal with Northern Ireland's pro-Brexit Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), and since then has struggled to keep her party and its allies together.

However, none of the eight options drawn up by various lawmakers secured a majority, although they are hoping to narrow down the field in another round of votes next Monday.

There were many concerns raised by the British public in the 2016 European Union referendum, such as the state of our manufacturing and our industrial towns, and a feeling that our politicians had let us down and had lost the plot in our post-imperial journey.

"And if the prime minister can't accept that, then she must go - not at an indeterminate date in the future but now.so that we can decide the future of this country through a general election".

European Union fans think the Brexit quagmire will be a lesson to the Brits and anyone else thinking of leaving.

"We thought it was going to be a lot closer", Joshua Mahony told AFP on the IG trading floor in London.

French President Emmanuel Macron, speaking as parliament voted, said the European Union needed to speed up planning on a no-deal exit.

The mood of protesters ranged from satisfaction to despair.

But her spokesman said she did not believe this would be "in the interests of the country".

But from next week we face a challenge comparable to, or greater than, all of these: how we deal with both a stalemate on policy, and a complete breakdown of trust between parliament and the public.

"It would all be splendid theatre if it were not so fateful for Britain and for Europe", the paper says of the events.

"They're in their bubble in there".
