It means customers will soon be offered food suggestions pushed towards them by smart algorithms, based on factors such as the weather, local trends, or even their auto licence plate.

Still, following the close of the acquisition, Dynamic Yield will remain a stand-alone company that continues to serve its current client base while working to attract new businesses.

According to Todd Gordon, founder of TradingAnalysis.com who spoke to CNBC about the company, McDonald's shares were set to surge past the $190 level. The technology will also automatically suggest and show menu add-ons, based on each customer's selections.

McDonald's has tested the AI at several restaurants previous year, and executive vice president and global chief information officer Daniel Henry says he expects more than 1,000 locations will be using it within three months.

The fast-food giant has collaborated with a high-tech firm in what it calls a bid "to provide an even more personalised customer experience".

The acquisition is McDonald's biggest acquisition in over two decades and is seen by some analyst as a clear sign of its evolving strategy to keep up with the changing global market. McDonald's has already tested Dynamic Yield's solution across the U.S., and will roll it out to drive-thrus later this year if all goes to plan.

McDonald's is acquiring Israeli startup Dynamic Yield for a reported 300 million dollars (£227 million) after a trial in some USA restaurants previous year.

This will enable McDonald's to be one of the first companies to integrate decision technology into the customer point of sale at a brick and mortar location. McDonald's isn't stopping there, though, with touchpoints inside the restaurants and the Global Mobile App also being upgraded with the AI technology. McDonald's will become sole owner of Dynamic Yield upon closing of the deal.

Dynamic Yield, which has headquarters in Tel Aviv and NY, will continue to serve other clients as a standalone company even under McDonald's ownership, according to multiple reports.
