Merkel ally floats idea of broader talks with United Kingdom if Brexit delayed
On Thursday, eight members of the cabinet - including the Brexit secretary, Steve Barclay and leader of the house Andrea Leadsom - voted against Mrs May's ultimately successful motion to extend article 50.
Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit deal has reached the end of the road and Britain should leave the bloc without an agreement, former British foreign secretary and leading Brexit campaigner Boris Johnson said on Tuesday.
Mrs May is preparing to make a third attempt to win backing for her withdrawal plans - despite two crushing defeats for her Brexit blueprint. Mrs May's spokesman has said that the government was still making preparations in the event of a no-deal divorce.
"She didn't want there to be an extension and brought forward the withdrawal agreement twice".
Some of her most implacable internal opponents are also pressing for her to promise to resign by the summer in return for their help in getting her over the line.
A motion in her name, authorising Mrs May to request an extension from the European Union to the two-year Article 50 negotiation process, was passed by 413 votes to 202, a majority of 211.
'Sopranos' movie gets release date and a new title ... 'Newark'
The prequel of the unforgettable, critically-acclaimed HBO series " The Sopranos " has an official title and a release date. The creator of " The Sopranos ", David Chase, and Lawrence Konner are the prequel's screenwriters.
Professor Iain Begg, of the European Institute and co-director of the Dahrendorf Forum at the London School of Economics and Political Science, said: "EU agreement is likely, but the EU side will want reassurance that the extension is for a objective, not just to permit further procrastination by the UK".
"We are here in the very week when parliament is doing its utmost to betray the Brexit result", Farage said.
May struck her agreement with the European Union in November after almost two years of tortuous talks.
The MP was speaking after a crucial vote in the Commons - which his party did not support - passed a motion to delay Brexit. If they are successful, that could lead to another General Election.
After Britain voted to leave in 2016, European negotiators stuck firmly to a two-stage approach, refusing to discuss anything about future trading ties until London settled its financial obligations, agreed mutually acceptable rules for expatriate citizens, and found a way to avoid trouble on the EU's only land border with the United Kingdom - with the British province of Northern Ireland. It must be a swift one, with goal. "A new referendum? Only after that can we talk about a several-month extension".
More than half of Tory MPs - including seven cabinet ministers - voted against Mrs May's motion to put back the date when Britain leaves the EU.
