Roberts said she believed that as a journalist, it was Smollett's right to be interviewed, so she agreed.

His handlers made it enticing, saying that the star would reveal new details about the so-called hate crime and Roberts was told she could challenge him about the "red flags" she saw in his story.

During the interview, Latifah also talked about her ever-evolving career in rap, film and television, and about the changes she would still like to see in the music industry.

On Monday, Roberts discussed how the opportunity to interview Smollett was brought to her.

"I'll be completely honest, I was like I don't know if I want to do the interview or not", she said, Page Six reports.

Although Jussie Smollett may have a few people on his side amid the allegations against him that he staged a racist attack, but the actor just can't seem to outrun evidence proving his guilt for what he's being accused of.

"The vast majority of people have been supportive and loving and understanding and then as time has gone on that there's no-It's two-o'clock in the morning, you're going to Subway, sub-zero..."

"In that interview, [Smollett] specifically says, 'Yeah, those two guys on the surveillance footage, those are the guys that attacked me, ' so now he's sort of boxed in", Abrams said.

The mainstream media has been dropping the ball recently in a slew of fake news coverage, including the Jussie Smollett hate crime hoax and the coverage of the kids from Covington Catholic High School.

"Until I can see some definitive proof - which I haven't seen yet - then, you know, I gotta go with him until I see otherwise", she said.

As it would turn out, Roberts was criticized for going too easy on the actor.

"I'm a black gay woman, he's a black gay man", she said.

"It was hurtful, some of the things that were said". "Because I pride myself on being fair".

"All I know is that I hope everything works out in the end and everybody basically comes out unscathed".
