Watch Russell Westbrook Threaten A Random Fan’s Wife During An NBA Game
In the wake of Oklahoma City Thunder star Russell Westbrook's heated incident with a Utah Jazz fan during the game on Monday night, the franchise issued a permanent ban of the local fan, Shane Keisel, who was involved in the verbal altercation.
Meanwhile, the Jazz have banned the fan from all events at their arena permanently and effective immediately.
Five fans at the game were issued "warning cards" citing the NBA's code of conduct after the incident, the Deseret News reported.
The NBA announced Tuesday that it has fined Westbrook $25,000 for "directing profanity and threatening language to a fan".
"Players and fans have a shared responsibility to create a safe and respectful environment", the Jazz said in a statement. Specifically, Westbrook claims the man told him to "get down on your knees like you're used to". And if we take the fan at his word, that there was nothing out of line coming from his mouth, it's still monumentally lame that a middle-aged man needs to find happiness by yelling at world-class athletes.
"To me, that's just completely disrespectful".
Russell Westbrook never has been one to bite his tongue, especially when it comes to engaging with fans.
"I think that everyone here is in the wrong", former National Basketball Association veteran Raja Bell said on Tuesday's edition of the Off The Bench podcast (subscribe here).

The Los Angeles Times obtained an internal email from USCIS Director L. However, he said, "There is nothing that will go undone".
It was not clear what was said to Westbrook to provoke the response, but he appeared to say "I will f*** you up. you and your wife" to the fan.
Westbrook said he would say the same exact thing if he had to do it all over again. I was the one talking to him, but don't threaten a woman. I join other players in calling for all teams to take a stand. Never have before, but once he said the comment, his wife repeated the same thing to me as well. It's truly disrespectful. Talk about your families, your kids. But don't threaten [my wife].
Keisel also said he and his family have received death threats.
Raymond Felton, who did not play, sat near Westbrook on the bench. Like Donovan said, we're going to do our best with the Jazz and the great owners we have to make sure there's a great conversation between us and our community.
"He just went nuts", Keisel told ESPN.
Utah now sit in sixth spot in the Western Conference with 17 games remaining on their schedule, with the San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers right behind them in the standings. "I think it's racial, and I think it's inappropriate and insensitive", Westbrook said after the game.
But during today's game, it seems Westbrook pushed things a little too far in snapping back to one unidentified punter. "I love our fans but there are limits that cannot be crossed!"
