Unfortunately, it didn't quite have the reaction they were hoping for. The images come from a supposed style guide for the film's merchandising campaign, noting that Sonic's "Brand Personality" should be "Irreverent and sarcastic, heroic and adventurous, confident and competitive, chill and likable [and] mischievous but not malicious".

Of course none of this is confirmed until we actually see a proper trailer for the film (whose release is November), but the source of the material, and the date which it was posted, sure makes it seem likely. Luckily for us, Polygon had already grabbed the images before they disappeared. Today we may finally have our first full look at the new Sonic. Why does he have white hands instead of gloves? Also, those appear to be Nike sneakers he's wearing, the privilege of which I'm certain the shoe giant paid a small fortune for.

A further leak has now also popped up online (via CBR), which is reportedly a direct 3D CG render from the film.
