Warner Bros. Pushes Sherlock Holmes 3 Back a Year

Sherlock Holmes 3

Last year, Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures announced that the upcoming film would hit the big screen this December - nine years after the first sequel Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows was released.

"Sherlock Holmes 3" will open a decade after the second film "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows", which also starred Jared Harris and Noomi Rapace, took in $545.4 million at the worldwide box office. Unfortunately now we are going to have to wait another year.

Both Downey Jr. and Law are confirmed to return for this one, and while Guy Ritchie directed the first two, his name was missing from the most recent announcement. A set back that further delays the production of a film that had been stuck in development for years. Downey and Law were both expected back in their roles as Sherlock Holmes and John Watson from a script by Chris Brancato. Well, the previous two Sherlock Holmes movies came out in December and it was a profitable time for Warner Bros to position it, so it's likely they're simply keeping that tradition up to follow precedent.

Successful docking for SpaceX Dragon capsule
SpaceX , founded by billionaire Elon Musk, has made the trip to the ISS a dozen times since 2012, but only to refuel the station. Both astronauts - Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken - were at SpaceX Mission Control in Southern California, observing all the action.

Proximity can often be a bad thing for movie releases, so it wouldn't be a massive surprise if Warner Bros have one eye on the damage that "comedy" has done.

And why a year's delay? Let us know in the comment section below! Warner Bros. has chose to punt the still-in-development third Sherlock Holmes film a further year later for release, scheduling it for December 2021.
