There has been no positive identification or cause of death released on the human remains, the Oregonian reported, citing a police statement.

Police in OR this week discovered a corpse at the home of Dennis Day, an original Mickey Mouse Club Mouseketeer who has been missing for more than eight months. The report stated that the body had not been identified yet.

Day, 76, was reported missing in July of last year by his husband of 45 years, who suffers from dementia-related memory problems and was in a hospital at the time of Day's disappearance. He added that Caswell's memory loss made it hard to get crucial details for the investigation.

The report said that on the day he disappeared, Day "uncharacteristically" left his dog with a friend, the local news site says.

The ceremony marks the beginning of a week of events to honour the dead and the start of one hundred days of mourning. As many as 800,000 people were killed, with 10,000 murdered on a daily basis during the period.

Day's vehicle was found 200 miles away on the Oregon Coast about two months ago, USA Today reported, and it was "in the possession of two strangers who claimed Day had let them borrow it". Word of his disappearance reportedly took some time to reach his family members, who became involved in December.

Reporters from the Medford Mail Tribune on Friday spotted an Oregon State Police Forensics truck outside Day's home.

Concerned fans and family members started a "Help Us Find Dennis Day" Facebook page to generate tips. When he was 10, he was among the first group of children hired for the Disney show.

A body believed to be that of missing Mouseketeer Dennis Day has been found at his home in Oregon. They were married in Ashland in 2009.
