Geely Geometry Launches As New Electric Car Brand From China

The first model from Geometry was unveiled on Thursday as the A, a small sedan priced from approximately $31,272. It intends to launch in excess of ten all-new 100% electric vehicles between now and 2025. The new brand will work with exclusively developed platforms and distribution channels and will focus on the Chinese market, taking orders from overseas, as in the case of Geometry A. The new brand will also be able to offer a range of products and services for the Chinese market.

"The launch of Geometry and its first product advances Geely's strategic goal of becoming one of world top 10 automotive groups", An Conghui, president of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, said in the statement.

In China pricing for the Geometry A, before government incentives, begins at ¥210,000 ($43,700) for the entry-level standard range model, and stretches to ¥250,000 ($52,000) for the top-spec long range variant. Both distances have been measured under the NEDC standard. Geometry A consumes an average of 13.5 kW·h per 100km traveled. Based on the price of electricity in Beijing, 1km would cost just.07 RMB (USD $.01 or 63 paise) and a daily 30km commute would be less than 2 RMB (USD $.30 or Rs 19).

Previously referred to as the Geely GE11, the Geometry A will be available in three specification levels, and with two battery options.

We need all our resources to win it. 'Records are nice but we have to hold them. The Chelsea defender said: 'We have improved and have got the results.

When hooked up to a fast-charging outlet, the A can replenish its battery from 30 to 80 per cent in 30 minutes and is equipped with a system that allows it to power accessories such as laptops, lamps and even ovens. The auto is equipped with the Bosch 9.3 ESP system, AEB-P Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, IHBC Intelligent High-Beam Control System, CVW Collision Warning System, and a braking distance of only 37.1m from a speed of 100kph.

Geely says it has already received 27,000 orders for the Geometry A - two-thirds of which come from markets other than China.

Geely itself describes the exterior design as "minimalist" and "avant-garde". Geely will certainly be in on that and we suspect we'll be hearing more about Geometry in the near future.

The Geely group also includes Geely, LEVC, Lotus, Lynk&Co, Polestar, Proton, Smart and Volvo.
