Sunday was an important day for West Ham Women.

The experienced Fara Williams then had the chance to score the victor from 12 yards out, but agonisingly clipped the post.

City and Chelsea are 2nd and 3rd respectively in the Women's Super League and it was no surprise that the interval was scoreless as both sides cancelled each other out.

Jade Moore then saw her spot-kick saved by Anna Moorhouse, allowing Cho So-hyun to score to secure victory for the Hammers.

But penalties proved to be their undoing, not only in the shootout but during a frantic second half in which they missed one spot-kick and should have been awarded two more.

English FA charges Paul Scholes with betting on games
It is believed that Scholes' offence is more likely to result in a fine and warning rather than lengthy suspension. Paul Scholes has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association for an alleged breach of betting rules.

Reading's Jo Potter was booked for simulation after appearing to be fouled by Kate Longhurst, while referee Sam Allison also waved away Bruton's appeals after she seemed to be clipped by Erin Simon.

West Ham were on the back foot for much of this game, but their tenacity and determination carried them through to the SSE Women's FA Cup Final for the first time in their history. Virtually all of us are global players and that's what you need in these big games, coming into the business end of the season it's big games like this that you want to be ready for.

As the game opened up in the final stages, we started to find more joy in behind the Chelsea defence. They hit the woodwork a couple of times, but we came out on top and that's the main thing. I'm immensely proud of everyone at the club.

West Ham fans now face a hard choice. I feel like I could cry.

Give it everything, we've got nothing to lose, we're 45 minutes and maybe extra time from playing at Wembley. "Bring on Wembley, let's do it!"
