Little Caesars testing out an ‘Impossible’ pizza

The vegan, halal, and kosher-friendly sausage is making its exclusive debut today as a topping on Little Caesars' $12 Impossible Supreme Pizza, alongside mushrooms, green peppers, and caramelized onions.

If the test goes well, Detroit-based Little Caesars could expand availability nationwide.

Burger King is also now testing an Impossible Whopper.

Impossible's plant-based rival Beyond Meats was valued at $3.8 billion earlier this month after having the best IPO of 2019 thus far, soaring 163% to $65.75 at closing from $25 a share at the opening bell.

US reaches deal with Canada, Mexico to remove steel, aluminum tariffs
In 2017, he warned auto makers that if they built cars in Mexico for export to the USA then they would attract a 35% tax. But the new treaty is called the U.S. -Mexico-Canada Agreement. "Those issues still need to be remedied", said U.S.

The plant-based sausage is a first for Impossible, and was created to appeal to Little Caesars customers. Impossible Foods says it has not yet announced plans to sell the sausage elsewhere. In 2017, Beyond began offering meatless sausages in grocery store meat aisles and last week announced a partnership with Tim Hortons in which the Canadian fast-food chain will carry three Beyond sausage breakfast sandwiches on its menu. The potato protein from the burger has been removed, which the company says gives the meat a bouncier texture. Like Impossible's burger, the plant-based sausage is derived from soy plants. The Information's Zoë Bernard reported earlier in May that Impossible Foods has claimed chains including Subway, Dunkin' Donuts, Wendy's, Papa John's, and Arby's have expressed interest in a deal with the meat-substitute company. Instead of harvesting it from individual plants, Impossible makes batches of heme by fermenting yeast that is genetically encoded with the soy plants' DNA. It would be a first demonstration that Impossible can make a whole other meat taste similar with only minimal tweaks to its ingredients and manufacturing process. A quarter pound of Impossible Sausage, for example, has no cholesterol, 1.5 grams of saturated fat, 17 grams of total fat, 17 grams of protein, and 270 calories. By comparison, Johnsonville's sweet Italian ground sausage has 80 mg of cholesterol, 26 grams of total fat, 20 grams of protein and 340 calories.

Little Caesars will offer the item to all USA locations if the pizza receives positive feedback.

"Normally companies like to sell you the product they have, not the one they're going to invent", Gleich said. The company has raised more than $750 million in multiple rounds of funding from investors including Bill Gates, Serena Williams, Trevor Noah and Jay-Z.
