Instagram Announces Camera Redesign & New Shopping Features

Instagram is testing a feature that would hide the like and view counts of photos and videos you post from your followers.

Screenshots of the feature appeared last week when researcher Jane Manchun Wong uncovered it in Instagram's Android app.

The test will only be available in Canada for now, but the fact that Facebook chose to announce it during the F8 keynote suggests the company is serious about the feature.

Portland Trail Blazers drop Game 1 to Denver Nuggets, 121-113
The Portland Trail Blazers are averaging 111.3 points on 45.8 percent shooting and allowing 107.8 points on 45 percent shooting. Lillard scored back-to-back layups with just under nine minutes left in the fourth quarter to make it a five-point game.

Facebook Inc.'s Instagram is considering removing the number of "likes" on posts, a move that mirrors efforts by social media companies like Twitter make their platforms healthier places for their users.

Finally, Instagram is expanding a feature off of Stories and into the feed: influencers and media brands in the company's creators program can now tag products on the posts they make - those products come from brands who are participating in the Instagram Checkout beta. If a user wants to see the number of likes and retweets on a reply to a conversation, the person will have to click into the individual tweets.

Though followers won't be able to see the like counts during the test, users will still be able to access that information on all of their own posts.

Besides changing the way the like count works, Instagram also announced changes to one of its most popular features: Instagram Stories. "We do hear people worry about how many like counts they get", head of Instagram Adam Mosseri told BuzzFeed News. Today, US users (more countries later) will be able to raise money for causes they care about by using a specific sticker that links to a donation campaign. Also coming is a new Create Mode for photo-free, video-free content to be shared - be it through text, stickers, other plug-ins, or all of the above.
