Job post seeking "preferably Caucasian" applicants removed after complaints

A Virginia-based IT recruiting firm was under fire on Monday over a job posting that was seeking "preferably Caucasian" applicants. The help wanted ad, posted on LinkedIn and other sites, sought an account manager for a job based in Tampa, Florida, with an unspecified pharma company.

Cynet Systems acknowledged the "offensive job post", which picked up steam by someone who posted it to Twitter. "We understand why some may have been upset ... because we were, too", co-CEO Ashwani Mayur said in a Monday statement, per the Guardian.

The job description said that a "preferably caucasian" candidate with technical background knowledge of Robotics Process Automation with eight to 10 years of experience should apply for the mid-senior level, full-time position.

Helena McCabe posted a screenshot of the job listing on Twitter with the "preferably Caucasian" caveat circled, asking the company, "How could you POSSIBLY think that's okay?"

The listing said it was seeking someone to fill a mid-to-senior level management position with an undisclosed pharmaceutical company, according to USA Today.
