Iker Casillas has suffered a heart attack

A Porto statement said: "Iker Casillas suffered an acute myocardial infarction during morning practice this Wednesday, at the PortoGaia Sports Formation and Training Centre, in Olival. Casillas is ok, stable and the heart problem has been resolved".

The club's official Twitter account added: "Always together".

Casillas captained Spain when they won their first ever World Cup in 2010 following an extra-time victory over the Netherlands in South Africa.

Real Madrid released a statement as well.

Casillas has been Porto's number one since joining the club from Real Madrid in 2015.

During his time at Madrid he won the Champions League three times - in 2000, 2002 and 2014 - and also won five LaLiga titles and two Copa del Rey trophies. His former team mate Raul made 741 appearances for Real.

We wish Iker a speedy recovery.

The most recent fatal attack came last week, when experienced Burundi global Papy Faty died after collapsing during a league match in eSwatini - formerly Swaziland - the Burundi football federation said on Friday. The heart attack is not believed to be life threatening.
