The post was not in any way meant to make light of this and, though the support from the community was overwhelming and positive. Faulkner clarified the original post on Instagram adding 'best mate!' in brackets after calling Jubb his boyfriend .

Carter, 42, is expected to become a free agent July 1 when his contract expires.

Fans have been wondering for a while now when exactly Carter would retire and many thought that this would be his last season. If Carter comes back, he will set the record for most seasons played, beating out Kevin Garnett, Dirk Nowitzki, Robert Parish, and Kevin Willis. 21-plus years later, Carter has the chance to break new grounds in terms of National Basketball Association longevity.

Carter has played for eight different teams throughout his career with averages of 17.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.2 assists. Who is rooting against him at this point?
