YouTube, MLB partner to stream 13 live games for free

YouTube’s newest deal brings free MLB games for everyone

YouTube’s newest deal brings free MLB games for everyone

The major difference is unlike Facebook's agreement this year, YouTube's games are exclusive, meaning the only place fans will be able to watch the games will be on MLB's official YouTube channel and a forthcoming channel on YouTube TV. The schedule of games will be announced shortly. To watch users will simply need to check out MLB's official YouTube page or check out a "forthcoming" channel on YouTube TV.

This news comes as Major League Baseball and Facebook have reached a new agreement for the 2019 season that includes just 6 non-exclusive games. This year, Facebook is cutting back and will stream five non-exclusive games. The games will include pre- and post-game content, and some popular YouTube creators will be participating in the broadcasts via an undisclosed means. MLB remains committed to making an impact in the communities of the U.S., Canada and throughout the world, perpetuating the sport's larger role in society and permeating every facet of baseball's business, marketing and community relations endeavors. The move by Google could indicate that it plans on bidding aggressively to stream more live sporting events in the future.

One Of The Best Infotainment Systems Is About To Get Even Better
According to the automaker, "key components of the system will start to rollout in phases across global regions during the second half of 2019".

The tie-up is similar to what MLB did last season with Facebook, which marked the first time a major USA league agreed to show regular-season games exclusively on the social network. Major League Baseball is an early pioneer in video streaming, launching its first live streams in 2002 and starting its YouTube channel in 2005.
