HTC unveils its next generation Cosmos VR headset

Apature Hand Labs is a brand new Portal game for the upcoming Valve Index VR headset, with comparability for the HTC Vive, and the best part is, it's completely free. This machine has a "flip-up halo design" so users can pop in and out of VR without removing the entire unit. That's approximately 88% more pixels than the original VIVE, and 100 more pixels than the HTC Vive Pro. That means the Cosmos offers the highest resolution displays among major VR headsets, besting the Oculus Rift S's 2560×1440 combined resolution.

"We found that over 85 percent of VR intenders believe that ease of use and set up is the most important factor to consider while purchasing a headset", said Daniel O'Brien, GM, Americas, HTC Vive.

The device also comes with six cameras for improved tracking, which include smooth controls and room-scale experiences. It's more of a technical demo, showing off the capabilities of the Valve Index, which has the ability to track individual finger movements, something other controllers have not been able to do so far. Two of these cameras are in the front facing forward, one on each side, left and right, and another couple at the top and bottom front side of the headset, one facing upward, another facing downward. The company also pointed to a modular face plate design.

Maple Leafs sign Kapanen, Johnsson to extensions
The speculation is that Marner has been talking to teams since the window to interview restricted free agents opened on Wednesday. Johnsson recorded a career-high 43 points (20 goals, 23 assists) last season, his first full year in the National Hockey League .

"Cosmos can grow with you over time due to a swappable face plate that can be updated for different XR needs in the future", HTC said. That seems to be a clear pointer to allowing the Vive Cosmos to be run from more than just a PC, as it's very likely HTC is planning on using this design for more than just a single-purpose use.

It's not quite the full AAA Portal game that we were expecting from the rumors circulating late a year ago, but it's still a pretty impressive game, especially for free.
