We're closer than we've ever been before to the arrival of season three of Stranger Things. As with previous cross-over events, there will likely be new skins and items to buy as well as a new list of challenges and rewards to earn.

Netflix this year will also release an eponymous turn-based strategy game spinning of an original "The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance" television series based on a dark puppet animated film from 1982 directed by Jim Henson and Frank Oz.

As for the gameplay itself, Netflix revealed that it will be a puzzle-based RPG that will rely heavily upon location-based gameplay a la Pokemon Go. The developers will be integrating Google Maps into the game so that the game becomes a periscope into the Upside Down.

The game is a partnership with Next Games, a Finland-based company best known for making the Walking Dead games.

"They developed this fantastic '80s, retro, Saturday morning cartoon art style that we've absolutely fallen in love with".

Stranger Things is scheduled to be released in 2020, on iOS and Android.

In addition to that tweet, the director of interactive games at Netflix also said on June 12 that there would be "a bit more behind that in a few weeks", when asked about their collaboration with Fortnite.

I just have one request, Netflix.

Nike and Netflix are teaming up to produce a line of "Stranger Things"-themed apparel for the show's upcoming third season, which releases on July 4".

Will a Stranger Things video game resonate with fans?

For example, you'll be able to use Eleven's psychic powers and there's even a special upgrade called the 'Thinking Cap' that amplifies her strength so prepare for a lot of nosebleeds.
