Trump's campaign for his 2020 re-election bid over the weekend fired pollsters Michael Baselice, Brett Lloyd and Adam Geller over leaked internal campaign polls showing Trump losing badly in key battleground states and in many Red Republican states to Democrats in the 2020 election. NBC first reported on the campaign's actions. He had carried the three states during his 2016 election campaign.

The findings also showed Trump trailing behind Biden by seven points in Florida, where Trump is expected to officially launch his 2020 campaign on Tuesday.

A more detailed accounting of the unflattering polls later appeared in The New York Times while the President was heading to Iowa to travel the state on the same day as Biden. The numbers showed Trump behind in several key states, and even potentially in trouble in Texas. The campaign has moved to install Trump loyalists as state party chairmen and delegates for the convention and has sought to project a sense of unity with the RNC in its sprawling headquarters overlooking the Potomac River in Rosslyn. "They suppress, they want to suppress the minds of people so they don't bother going out and voting". Baselice, who is based in Austin, Texas, joined the Trump campaign near the end of the 2016 election cycle and had been close to Trump's 2020 campaign manager Brad Parscale, the person said. Trump has continued to regularly phone aides and allies in the early morning hours to quiz them about Biden - and ask whether he poses a threat to his staying power in the White House.

The most important thing here is that in all these polls, American citizens were nearly satisfied with their country's economic situation over Trump's presidency, but they were highly unhappy with his foreign policy.

Last week, some internal polling from the Trump re-election campaign was leaked.

Democrats' impeachment unity is effectively growing within the party, as almost 50% of Democrats now support impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll. The survey showed only 11 percent of Democrats, 17 percent of African Americans, 32 percent of Latinos and 36 percent of women approve of the job Trump is doing as president.

Both CNN and ABC News reported Sunday that the Trump campaign planned to part ways with some of its pollsters in the wake of the leak, which showed the Trump campaign falling behind former Vice President Joe Biden by the double digits in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Trump remained highly popular, with an 84% approval rating, among Republicans.

NBC's report also included new details of the poll, which apparently showed Trump trailing Biden by seven points in Iowa, eight in North Carolina, 17 in Virginia, one in OH, six in Georgia, 14 in Minnesota, and 15 in Maine.
