Pelosi: Trump's comments prove he doesn't 'know right from wrong'

When ABC interviewer George Stephanopoulos pointed out that FBI Director Christopher Wray recently said that any foreign meddling in USA elections should be reported, Trump responded: "The FBI director is wrong".

"It's not an interference". I think you might want to listen.

"There's nothing wrong with listening", Trump said, adding that he'd only "maybe" contact the Federal Bureau of Investigation if he "thought there was something wrong". "Oh, I think I'd want to hear it".

Asked by ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos during an interview in the Oval Office Wednesday whether or not his campaign would accept an offer of information on an opponent from foreigners, such as Russian Federation or China, Trump said "I think maybe you do both".

The mainstream media went nuts.

"The FBI director is wrong", Trump said. Trump has consistently downplayed Russian efforts to interfere in the 2016 contest, and cast doubts on USA intelligence agencies' assessments of the meddling.

Democratic presidential frontrunner Joe Biden said that Trump was "welcoming" foreign interference in the U.S. voting.

Filled with explosive and in some cases apparently completely erroneous claims about Trump's links to Russian Federation, the report was eventually handed over to United States law enforcement, adding fuel to a massive official probe led by special counsel Robert Mueller.

But in tweets Thursday, Trump tried to turn the tables on prominent Democratic lawmakers.

Alex Morgan sets a scoring record and shakes World Cup
Critics jumped on the US for running up the score and celebrating late goals when the game had already been decided. Alex Morgan's five goals tied her with fellow American Michelle Akers for most goals in a single World Cup match.

"When @RepAdamSchiff took calls from another person, also very successfully purporting to be a Russian Operative, did he call the FBI, or even think to call the FBI? NO!"

When Stephanopoulos pointed out that the FBI director has said that a candidate should call if they are offered intelligence on an opponent from a foreign actor, Mr. Trump shot back: "The FBI director is wrong".

Mueller found that it was not clear whether courts would accept that opposition research provided free by a foreign government constituted a "thing of value" and thus an illegal foreign campaign contribution.

Harris, in an NPR interview posted earlier Wednesday, said that the Justice Department in a Harris administration would probably press obstruction of justice charges against Trump. Let's speak the truth: "this president is a national security threat". "It's so against any sense of decency", she said.

"I meet and talk to "foreign governments" every day", Trump tweeted.

Sen. John Cornyn, a Republican from Texas, told VOA, "I don't give the president public advice (on what to say)". Trump Jr. spoke with the Senate Intelligence Committee for about three hours Wednesday to clarify an earlier interview with the committee's staff.

The Republicans' 2012 presidential nominee, Mitt Romney, now senator from Utah, said his campaign would have immediately notified the authorities if offered foreign help.

During the 2016 campaign that brought Trump to power, his son Donald Trump Jr. met with a Russian lawyer who offered negative information about Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. "I think it's a mistake of law".
