The Raspberry Pi 4 Model B is powered by a Broadcom BCM2711 chip, which uses four ARM Cortex-A72 cores running at 1.5GHz.

The Raspberry Pi Foundation claims that the newest single-board computer is the first to "replicate the full range of capabilities of a traditional PC". So, this is a big upgrade for the Raspberry Pi.

New RAM options have also been provided as you can now choose from 1GB, 2GB and the highest RAM option available now is 4GB LPDDR4-2400 SDRAM, which is a massive upgrade as previous models were limited to just 1GB of RAM.

The little Raspberry Pi 4 board packs a serious punch with bumped specs across the board. The Raspberry Pi Foundation is launching the fourth-generation Pi, and there is a ton of massive upgrades throughout the board - literally. Where with the 3B+ we had 4x USB 2.0, now we'll have 2x USB 2.0 and 2x USB 3.0.

Of course, being a Raspberry Pi, you'll want to buy a Starter Kit that comes with a new USB-C power supply, heatsinks, and everything else you'll need to run the low-powered computer.

Returning features include the 40-pin GPIO header, the microSD slot, the MIPI-CSI camera connector, and audio jack, which are all located in the familiar places. Yet, if you recently bought a case for your Raspberry Pi thinking that you could upgrade to a new Pi in the future, think again. The Raspberry Pi 4 with its much better graphics/display setup can even drive two displays via micro-HDMI connections.

Shenzhen Xunlong Software has released its latest Orange Pi 3 development board to rival the Raspberry Pi 3. Other HATs and accessories should work fine.
