'Cats' director using digital technology to make actors look furry

In the preview, we get our first glimpse of the giant set complete with oversized chairs and bicycles, created by director Tom Hooper to give us a cat's-eye view of the world.

The movie musical features an all-star cast, with Taylor (Bombalurina), Idris (Macavity), Jennifer Hudson (Grizabella), Ian McKellen (Gus the Theatre Cat), Judi Dench (Deuteronomy), Rebel Wilson (Jennyanydots), Jason Derulo (Rum Tum Tugger), James Corden (Bustopher Jones), and more!

When it was announced that a Cats movie was coming, I think we all just collectively assumed the actors would be donning cat costumes and make-up and prancing about, just like the long-running Broadway production. She started filming her parts as Bombalurina right after wrapping up her Reputation tour a year ago. It's based on Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot and tells the story of a tribe of cats on one fateful night. Fans of the musical, and the many stars appearing in the project, can watch the first look video below thanks to a quick upload from the studio.

Prior to that, Universal Pictures shared a featurette video that goes behind the scene and also introduces the primary voice cast. "It's three or four times bigger for the cat perspective". The original production won seven Tonys, including for Best Musical.

Ahead of the first trailer dropping Friday, the cast of Cats have changed their Instagram names to the names of their characters.

With one of the most sterling rosters in recent memory and with a respected filmmaker standing at the helm, Cats should become a box office success and a hit with audiences.
