David Price Blasts Dennis Eckersley as Feud Reignites

One of the subplots of the trying 2017 season for the Boston Red Sox was the seeming animosity between veteran lefty David Price and Hall of Fame pitcher/Red Sox television commentator Dennis Eckersley. Price, however, seems to think it is quite humorous. On Tuesday night, WEEI.com's Alex Reimer aggregated a section of a long Boston Globe feature on Eckersley - specifically Eckersley being mortified about the time Price ambushed and insulted him on a 2017 team flight. "The fact that he wanted to move on and since then he's went on the radio and talked about it, done it again", Price said. You know how many people I pointed at after I struck them out?

"He says, 'I never got the chance to tell you, I wasn't showing you up, I was just reacting emotionally, '" Orsillo told the Globe. "I don't really give a (expletive) one way or another".

"I don't think it's a distraction", Cora said. If Eckersley doesn't want to speak to Price or acknowledge the left-hander's existence, he can probably continue to make that happen. On Wednesday, Price called it "trash" that Eckersley discussed the incident during an interview for a lengthy piece on the former pitcher's life and career.

I never imagined having to write a speech like this, to the most attractive woman who ever lived. "I lost my rock". I want to wake up from a dream. "She's not in ache and eventually feels regular once more".

Price also criticized a recent MLB Network documentary about Eckersley's career. After the incident, Price did not apologize, and Eckersley declined the team's efforts to set up a meeting between the two. Not one talking about him.

"If anybody ever does a special on me after baseball, I won't need to go on that interview". It was cool. The one thing that stood out to me was that he had zero former teammates in that interview. I will have former teammates. I will have former coaches. "That tells the story right there".

Price is now in his fourth season with the Red Sox after signing a seven-year, $217 million deal with the club in 2016.
