Arrow's Stephen Amell To Headline Wrestling Drama 'Heels'

With The CW's Arrow now filming its eighth and final season, the star has already lined up his next project.

TV Line reports Amell has lined up his first post-Arrow acting gig, and is officially set to headline a new Starz drama set in the world of wrestling. The series will have an eight-episode run on Starz. Two brothers and fierce rivals (Stephen Amell being one of the brothers) are at odds as they battle for their late father's legacy. In real life, he's juggling multiple roles as a father, husband, and overworked business owner grinding to ensure that his dreams come to fruition.

"[Jack Spade] has the mind of an artist in the body of a warrior, and a Steve Jobs-ian need for perfection - and for control."

Amell's character has the drive to make the DWA a huge empire, and he's willing to do whatever it takes to make the company succeed. Will he go so far as to risk his marriage or his relationship with his brother?

The last content pack featured the addition of hero Ash Williams from the Evil Dead franchise, who came with his own set of perks. This new killer is the Demogorgon, and outside of it looking downright awesome , there's not a whole lot to share at the moment.

The eight-episode series was written by Michael Waldron, who is now working on the Disney+ series Loki.

Amell's character Jack is the top heel of his family's Duffy Wrestling Association.

When the news broke, Amell immediately joked with Cody Runnels (or Cody Rhodes), a professional wrestler who also played Derek Sampson on Arrow, and asked if he can help with the show. Back in 2015, Amell teamed with Neville to face King Barrett and Stardust at WWE's SummerSlam.

Stephen Amell says he's done moonlighting as a professional wrestler, but he's not quite finished with the wrestling industry. Since then Amell has also wrestled in Ring of Honor and at Rhodes' independent pay-per-view, All In. Amell competed against wrestling veteran Christopher Daniels in what turned out to be a show-stealer in last year's historic All In event.
