Former Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett is getting another shot at the National Football League after signing with the Seattle Seahawks.

Smith has looked like the better quarterback for the majority of training camp, leading most to believe he will be the backup once the season starts.

Evans, who previously played for Green Bay, was signed to Seattle's practice squad late last season, then later signed to a reserve/future contract following the end of the season.

Barrett went undrafted in 2018 and spent past year moving on and off the Saints' practice squad, part of 25 different transactions during his time with New Orleans, before being waived on August 1.

While the civilian version of the revived show recently completed its fifth season, there are no plans for a celebrity reboot. Then, the hosts share their final thoughts on the season's couples and what they hope to see more of in Season 2 .

Carroll said last week that "the plan" is for Smith to be available for Seattle's next preseason game on August 18 at Minnesota. He completed 64.7 percent of his passes for 3,053 yards with 35 touchdowns and nine interceptions in his final year for the Buckeyes. Barrett also rushed for 798 yards and 12 touchdowns as a senior. Seattle needed another quarterback after Geno Smith underwent treatment for a knee injury, which will keep him out of practice for as much as two weeks.

Coach Pete Carroll talked about how the experience that both Lynch and Smith have is what makes them appealing options to play behind Wilson, which certainly seems like it would hamper Barrett's ability to win the job outright.

Barrett will give Seattle a third quarterback on its roster for the time that Smith is out, working behind Russell Wilson and Paxton Lynch.

Young was a tryout player in Seattle's rookie mini-camp in May. In the preseason opener against the Denver Broncos - the very team that used a first-round pick on Lynch in 2016 - it was Smith getting the nod at starter with Lynch providing clean-up duty.
