"I thought I was going in to get a checkup, and he told me that, uh, I got cancer", Money said in a clip from the show.

According to a video released on Twitter, Eddie Money, who stars in AXS-TV's reality series "Real Money", announced doctors found a tumor, which spread during a routine check-up.

The '70s and '80s hitmaker, known for tunes such as "Two Tickets to Paradise" and "Take Me Home Tonight", said his fate is in "God's hands".

In Monday's (NZ time) second stage, riders will face a hilly route of almost 200 kilometres from Benidorm to Calpe on the southeastern coast.

The news was revealed by TMZ, along with a short clip from the show in which singer Money, 70, discusses the diagnosis, which he received late previous year during a routine visit to his doctor.

Money, age 70, will talk about the diagnosis in an episode of the show that will air on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 9:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. PT. "He looks forward to getting back on the road very soon, but in the meantime, he hopes that you'll all join him this Sunday watching one of his personal favorite episodes of Real Money on AXS TV when the Moneys head to Deadwood, South Dakota for some forced family fun!" "I want people to know that cancer's come a long way and not everybody dies from cancer like they did in the 50s and 60s", he said. "It's not honest. I want to be honest with everybody".

"Am I gonna live a long time?" In July of a year ago, Eddie had to cancel the final dates of his summer tour on account of pneumonia. The heart issue was a condition unrelated to his cancer. "Every day above ground is a good day".
