El-Zakzaky, wife arrive Abuja Airport enroute to India

THE leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky and his wife on Monday, were flown to India for medical treatment.

The trip would be the first time Mr El-Zakzaky would anywhere else but the Nigerian government custody since December 2015 when Nigerian soldiers tore down his residence, killed hundreds of his followers and took him into custody.

Others are that: "Each of the defendants/applicants shall undertake to return to Nigeria to continue their trial as soon as they are discharged from the hospital, and shall also be responsible for the cost of their travel, treatment and living expenses while on their medical leave".

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that on Monday, August 5, the federal high court Kaduna granted a medical leave to El-Zakzaky, and his wife Zeenat.

Though they arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, in the morning, they were eventually flown out of the country in a chartered jet said to have been provided by the Iranian government at about 6pm.

It also said the FG must obtain from the Indian government an irrevocable guarantee that it would not entertain any application by the defendants/applicants or any third party seeking asylum under any guise or conferring the status of political prisoners or any other status aside from being medical patients on the defendants/applicants.
