Pedro Pascal is playing him, and he'll be starring alongside Gina Carano, Carl Weathers, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Omid Abtahi, Werner Herzog and Nick Nolte. Obviously, Disney is hoping the series will make a big splash not only by using a Star Wars property but also having creator Jon Favreau, who has had success with Iron Man and recently with The Lion King, especially with its box office take.

But while Iger and Wen teased her involvement in The Mandalorian during the D23 Expo ceremony, it wasn't until Syfy asked her directly that she really opened up about her excitement.

Guests at the D23 Expo were able to see a model and visuals of the hotel prototype at the "Imagining Tomorrow, Today" pavilion. The shows cover some of the company's biggest properties and will also reboot a classic Disney Channel television series .

Episodes will be directed by Dave Filoni, Bryce Dallas Howard, Deborah Chow, Rick Famuyiwa, and Taika Waititi.

The Mandalorian is set to debut on Disney+ when it launches on November 12.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said the TV shows would be "identical" in quality to the record-grossing Star Wars films, describing it as "exhilarating and liberating" to tell stories that expand beyond two hours. The Mandalorian, Disney says, follows the story of a lone gunfighter working beyond the scope of the New Republic.

Actress Ming-Na Wen is joining the cast of the Disney+ "Star Wars" series "The Mandalorian".

Set in the span of time between 1983's Return of the Jedi and 2015's The Force Awakens, The Mandalorian is a Western-inspired action series set in the furthest reaches of a galaxy far, far away.
