Kings' Bagley withdraws from consideration for USA World Cup team

Two days after his promotion from Team USA Select to the Senior Team, Marvin Bagley III removed himself from consideration for the 2019 FIBA World Cup roster.

Bagley was due to report this week to El Segundo, Calif., for the second week of Team USA training camp. Bagley was not immediately replaced, and unless that changes the USA will have 16 players still in the mix for 12 final roster spots.

Per Marc Stein of the New York Times, Marvin Bagley III withdrew his participation from Team USA in order to focus on the next National Basketball Association season.

Bagley's Kings teammates, Harrison Barnes and De'Aaron Fox, are both still in contention to make the US roster.

"We're bringing a couple of young players from the select team so we're going to be patient with the rest of the squad because we have plenty of time, we have two weeks to decide who will be the final 12", managing director Jerry Colangelo said in a statement last week.

About the other players of the roster, Boston has four - Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart, Jayson Tatum and Kemba Walker.

Harrison Barnes, Jaylen Brown, De'Aaron Fox, Joe Harris, Kyle Kuzma, Brook Lopez, Kyle Lowry, Khris Middleton, Donovan Mitchell, Mason Plumlee, Marcus Smart, Jayson Tatum, P.J. Tucker, Myles Turner, Kemba Walker and Derrick White are the 16 remaining National Basketball Association players, out of which 12 will make the final cut.
