Megan Rapinoe reveals her dad voted for Donald Trump

"People were like: 'That was so intense!' And I'm like: 'Honestly, he's a f***ing joke, so it wasn't intense, because this is ridiculous'".

Rapinoe, after her comments about not visiting the White House, became involved in a public feud with President Trump, causing her status as a politically divisive figure to, at least temporarily, rival her notoriety as an accomplished soccer star as she became a frequent guest on various cable news, late night and daytime television shows. She also said she was confused by her parents' ability to watch a news station that has often been critical of their own daughter.

Megan Rapinoe has given new insight into how she deals with her parents' political views, including a suggestion that they "need to go to therapy" for watching Fox News. "How are you simultaneously as proud as punch of me, and watching Fox News all the time, [who are doing] takedowns of your daughter?" "I was like: 'You guys need to get on board or get out.' We had some tense times, but it came down to, 'You're either in this or not'". "My parents said: 'What are people going to say?' and: 'We don't want things to be harder for you.' But I don't think I ever saw ways in which it was harder".

"I'm very similar to how they are, even though I think my dad voted for Trump and I'll say: 'I don't get it". She feels they should be Democrats. But they're not, so what's happening?' "I thought: 'This is awesome - and if people aren't down with it I don't really care to have them in my life, anyway, '" she told the Guardian. She counts mother Denise, twin sister Rachael and older brother Brian - a former member of a white supremacist group who is incarcerated and in a reentry program in California - as major inspirations for her work on and off the field. I talk to my parents all the time, every day. "I feel like I have seen progress and growth". "I wouldn't say that we're anti-authority, but when there's a person who is abusing their power or manipulating people, whether it's a teacher when I was younger or Donald Trump now, there's nothing that fires me up and grinds my gears more". "We are everything he loves", says Rapinoe - sportspeople, winners, Team America - "with the exception that we're powerful, strong women".

China unveils rate reform to help lower firms' borrowing costs
Banks will retain discretion as to how they price rates for loans maturities of less than 1-year and within 1-5 years. But existing loans will still follow the original contracts that were signed in line with the benchmark lending rate.

"Megan should never disrespect our Country, the White House, or our Flag, especially since so much has been done for her & the team".

She said that although she and her parents have differences in political views, she is still close to her family.

The USWNT World Cup hero also expressed dismay that her parents weren't "progressives".
