Guerin, 48, has been serving as assistant general manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins and replaces Paul Fenton who was sacked last month after just one season on the job. The Wild were also familiar with Guerin as he had interviewed for the job a year ago before the team settled on Fenton. On Wednesday, the team corrected the error, and hired Guerin to succeed him. "I want to stay in the game".

Guerin, 48, becomes the fourth general manager in Wild franchise history and the second plucked from the Penguins organization after Chuck Fletcher.

The search for the Wild's new GM was headed by owner Craig Leipold and team president Matt Majka, with assistance from Hockey Hall of Famer Mike Modano.

He also hoisted two Stanley Cups during an 18-season playing career (1991-2010) with eight National Hockey League teams, winning championships with the 1994-95 New Jersey Devils and the 2008-09 Penguins. This team can definitely get better and if we do the right things at the right time, everything is here for us to win.

Apple's Former Siri Head Is Joining Microsoft as CVP of Technology
Stasior will be joining the company officially later this month, but it's worth noting that he didn't come straight from Apple. Bill Stasior , who led Apple's Siri efforts for several years, has joined Microsoft to lead an AI group under CTO Kevin Scott.

The four-time Stanley Cup champion spent the last eight seasons in the Pittsburgh Penguins' front office.

The 48-year-old replaces Paul Fenton, who was sacked July 30 after one turbulent season as the head of the Wild's hockey operations department.

The Wild have $9.4 million remaining in cap space this summer with restricted free agents Fiala and Joel Eriksson Ek in need of new contracts.
