New Vivo Z5 Offers 19.5:9 Display, Snapdragon 712 Soc, 8GB RAM

The smartphone is expected to launch in India as well in coming months but when exactly Vivo is yet to make it clear. It's a sweet budget offering with a punch-hole display and triple rear cameras, which is called Vivo Z5x in China.

Vivo Z5 today went official in China as the second Snapdragon 712 smartphone in the company's budget portfolio. Even though it matches slightly with Vivo Z1 Pro in terms of hardware specifications but it includes an in-display fingerprint sensor and features a smaller display. Let's take a closer look at this smartphone. The phone is priced at 1598 yuan (~US$230 / Rs.16,000) for the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant while it costs 1898 yuan (~US$275 / Rs.19,000) for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant and 1998 yuan (~US$290 / Rs.20,000) for the 6GB RAM + 256GB storage variant. The smartphone will be available in Forest Night, Aurora Illusion and Holographic Illusion colours. The Vivo Z5 has been launched in China today boasting of a few key selling points in attractive price points. For security, there is face unlock and an optical in-display fingerprint scanner. The new Vivo phone offers a 19.5:9 display with a waterdrop-style notch design.

The Vivo Z5 is equipped with a 6.38-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. There's a considerable chin at the bottom as compared to all other bezels, but it's nothing that will disrupt your daily use or viewing experience.

For imaging, the Vivo Z5 flaunts triple cameras at its rear. There is the octa-core Snapdragon 712 SoC, combined with 6GB and 8GB of RAM. There is also the top-of-the-line 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model that is priced at CNY 2,298 (roughly Rs. 23,000). On top of that, it comes with a new Funtouch OS 9.1.

For photos and videos, the Vivo Z5 sports a triple rear camera setup that includes a 48-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.79 lens. Naturally, the phone also offers a dedicated night mode for better low-light stills. Also, the device comes with the company's Funtouch OS 9.1 based on Android 9 Pie. The smartphone gets the power from a 4500mAh battery with support for 22.5W fast charging touted to charge it up to 50% in just 30 minutes. The other features available on the Vivo Z5 are dual SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, Global Positioning System and 3.5mm audio jack. What are your thoughts on the Vivo Z5?
