Tennessee woman charged with scalding toddler's feet

Jennifer Vaughn, 53, was arrested and charged with felony aggravated child abuse, after the August 11 incident in Rhea County, Tennessee, when she was watching Kaylee, 2.

Rocky Potter, a detective with the Rhea County Sheriff's Office, told WRCB that the toddler has "sock burns" on her feet, meaning the burns go 2 inches above her ankle, making the burns look like socks.

They believe the burns were a form of punishment from Vaughn, who was watching the toddler at the time, and came from extremely hot water.

Horrific pictures of the girl's feet - severely burned and blistered- were shared by her mother to local media outlets.

Smith told WTVC that her daughter is now home from the burn center but will have to have more surgery.

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help cover the child's ongoing medical costs. "I would like someone to burn her feet just the same".

Smith is the fiancee of Vaughn's son, Kyle Vaughn.

Mexican judge approves recreational cocaine use in 'historic' ruling
The ruling allows the two plaintiffs to "possess, transport and use cocaine ", although they are prohibited from selling it. His party, Morena, has introduced a bill in Congress to legalise recreational marijuana use.

Photos accompanying the post show the toddler sitting in a hospital bed with bandages on her feet.

Since the incident, Vaughn has been charged with aggravated child abuse and is being held on a $150,000 bond.

"This ranks right up there with one of the worst ones I have seen", Potter said, adding that investigators determined Vaughn did use scalding water to punish the little girl.

If convicted, Vaughn could face 15 to 80 years in prison.

Little asked supporters to donate money to help her son and daughter-in-law during this "very hard time".

Potter had earlier told WTVC a similar message-that the damage was so severe that the skin grafts may not be successful.
