He has an offer on his table from Tottenham of a one-year contract, but Llorente is highly unlikely to return to England in the coming days.

Llorente is now a free agent after leaving Tottenham at the end of last season after his contract with the club expired on July 1.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, United have been in contact with former Tottenham Hotspur striker Fernando Llorente.

Despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insisting he is happy with his attack-line in Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, losing either to injury would leave him turning to youngster Mason Greenwood.

Despite the transfer window closing, United could secure Llorente's services as he's a free agent.

Friday's edition of AS talks about Napoli's interest in the Spaniard and says they've offered him a two-year deal.

Llorente could be a flawless replacement for Sanchez at Old Trafford after helping Tottenham to reach last season's UEFA Champions League final.

During his spell in North London, Llorente bagged two Premier Leagues though he enjoyed a prolific campaign for Swansea City in the 2016/17 term as he chipped in with 15 league goals.

It is for this reason United are said to have turned to Llorente to add depth in their striking department.
