Duke rolls to easy win at Virginia Tech

Behold Virginia Tech's football team has a robot that does pushups when they score

The Virginia Tech Hokies didn't do much to write home about on the field, but on the sideline, a robot celebrated the few points they scored in its own way. He made the throw easy for quarterback Ryan Willis.

Duke's running backs also had a great game, with Deon Jackson leading the way with nine carries for 55 yards and a touchdown, while Mataeo Durant had 11 rushes for 29 yards.

Duke football coach David Cutcliffe discussed his team's solid performance in a 45-10 blowout win over the Virginia Tech Hokies at Lane Stadium on Friday, September 27, 2019. The only time Duke started with just two wins before October was in 2016 when the Blue Devils finished 4-8.

Real Madrid boss Zidane defends quiet Hazard for derby stalemate
In a first half of few clear-cut chances, Diego Costa was inches away from sliding home Thomas Partey's low cross. Both teams were more afraid of losing than hungry to win, treading water with a draw seemingly suiting them both.

Hokies coach Justin Fuente downplayed the importance of the momentum swing because it came so early in the game and gave the Blue Devils just a 7-3 lead, but defensive coordinator Bud Foster was not as quick to dismiss it.

After more than a quarter of ugly play by the Duke Blue Devils offense, all it took was a turnover and a red-zone opportunity to unleash some handsome play execution for a touchdown. What began as a three-point deficit rapidly turned into an 18-point advantage for the Blue Devils, and the Hokies had no response to the offensive onslaught. Ultimately, five Blue Devils averaged over five yards per rush, which was important in setting up the aforementioned passes and trick plays. That's the Blue Devils' only season without a bowl appearance since 2011. The Blue Devils' first three possessions all ended in punts. This is in large part thanks to the defense, which was able to stall Virginia Tech's offensive drives until the Duke offense found its rhythm.
